Re: Stitchers of PF temp thread
Glad you got it sorted tort!
I've had a couple of parcels arrive this morning with blankets & they're absolutely gorgeous & I'm so thankful for the people who've made them (ravelry people) but when put next to my little blankets mine look pants.
Sounds so silly feeling down on my own stuff I did make mine plain so they're ideal for on the neonatal unit but everyone else's look so pretty! Will do pics later so you see what I mean x

Re: Stitchers of PF temp thread
Has anyone crocheted with Sirdar Snowflake before - Jessica chose it as she said she wanted a new blanket but I'm tempted to take it back to the shop (the unopened balls) as I'm finding it near impossible to crochet with. It says it needs a 5mm crochet hook so I went for a 6 and still struggling, I just can't see my stitches. It's so lovely and soft and snuggly, I know why Jessica chose it, but its so hard going- I'm unpicked and redone the foundation row at least 4 times now.

Re: Stitchers of PF temp thread
Don't be down on yourself hun!
Once you've mastered the basic stitches & tension, the only thing that seperates one piece of crochet from another is the design and colour really. Just because other people have opted for glitzier patterns/colours doesn't mean yours are pants - if anything yours sound more suitable for their purpose.
Just look at the stitch composition - any better or worse than yours? ..... Thought not! x x
I *HAVE* finished something!!! Hat and scarf for DD, I'll upload pics when PF is back up - don't wait with baited breath, its pretty basic!
PP Julie, its a flipping nightmare!! I abandoned mine so no advice, just sympathy!!

I can't crochet but I've knitted with the snowflake wool. Lovely but very very hard to work with...

Re: Stitchers of PF temp thread
Yay! Finally got internet working, don't know how long it will last though.
JD you are being really tough on yourself...you have done brilliantly making so many blankets and organising others ((hugs))
Tortoise I get like that too when I'm working on it...I could literally spend all day (and night) stitching lol. Any links to your blog?

Re: Stitchers of PF temp thread
Well here's my first 10 rows! The last 4 are the ones I made more effort with, the increase and decrease issue anyway. Colours are a tad pastelly but it's a gift and the little dudes bedroom is the toys r us jungle theme.
Sorry if it's absolutely massive, I'm on my phone.

Re: Stitchers of PF temp thread
That's looking really good and very neat
I like the pastel colours, I would like to use something a bit less bright next time...everything I've done lately has been a bit 'in your face'.

I love brightness! I love my chevron colours too, it's a bit dark for lots of people but I love the blues and purples

Re: Stitchers of PF temp thread
I'm going to do a ripple for each of mine...Jamie's is going to be blues, brown and orange to go with his room and Charlie's is going to be reds, blues, and yellow to go with his...I think they will look lovely as throws for their beds.

Just plain black. I think the patchwork speaks volumes for itself so it'll be just a plain black cotton border and a plain black cotton back. I'm fairly confident I can do the stitching together to make a blanket but the quilting is starting to worry me. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do it, I a) can't sew in a straightline and b) was having size issues with the patchwork The patchwork is already over a meter length and width ways so it's going to be a challenge.

Re: Stitchers of PF temp thread
I really want to make one of those star blankets. They look ace, just a modified form of the chevron blanket I think.
Looking nice tort - I'm doing a pastel ripple blanket too

Re: Stitchers of PF temp thread
Love the ripples there tort (did I already say that I can't remember!)
I find that as you're doing it it does look like the increases & decreases move, but you have to look at the alternate lines as they're the ones that go in the same direction (if that makes sense)
I found a close up of Henrys blanket, although I know you're sorted now, I just wanted to post a pretty picture! lol
